The main  objective of this project is the mini-grid analysis of Quinito, a village on the northern coast of Honduras, and to develop possible solutions to improve the community electrification in a sustainable and environmentally friendly way.

In the village  there are 116 buildings, 55 of which are connected to the local mini-grid. A 16 kW micro hydro-electric power plant produces most of the energy used.

There are other electricity generation systems in the village, such as photovoltaic panels and diesel/ petrol generators, but often these are autonomous systems that are not well coordinated with the main grid.
